ABC news anchor Bob Woodruff, who was injured while reporting on the war in Iraq earlier this year, won't attend an upcoming alumni awards ceremony in his home state of Michigan. Woodruff, 44, will send his brother, Dave Woodruff, to accept a 2006 Cranbrook Schools Distinguished Alumni Award on June 10 in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

BAILEYVILLE - Alberta Alice "Tunny" Haines, 91, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at Atlantic Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Calais. Alberta was born March 13, 1920, in Baileyville, daughter of the late Murry and Alice (Lakin) Haynes. After graduating from Woodland High School, she furthered her education at Farmington Normal School, and also received her master's degree in education at the University of Maine, Orono. She served in the U.S. Army during World War II and then Tunny taught school in Venezuela for three years until relocating to Connecticut, from where she retired. After retiring she moved back to Woodland to take care of her mother and taught school in Calais.
