BLOOMINGTON - In motorsports it's not unusual to hear competitors lament of the perils of a slick track, occasionally comparing the racing surface to "a sheet of ice.
To Bloomington motorcycle racers Darren Carter and Shea Knuth, as well their fellow racers in the World Championship Ice Racing Series, the track literally will be a sheet of ice as they'll be using the U.S. Cellular Coliseum ice to test their mettle at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The sale of Bixby's SpiritBank Event Center hinged in a large part on the unrelated successes of Tulsa real estate consultants Porthaven Partners.
Earlier this year SpiritBank real estate arm S-BK Properties hired two-year-old Porthaven to help reposition both the 4,500-seat performance venue and the neighboring 130,000-square-foot Shoppes at Regal Plaza. SpiritBank Deputy Chief Executive Paul Cornell praised the work by Porthaven founders Ryan Carter and Darren Sides as fundamental to landing several new Regal tenants, including Southern Nazarene University's Tulsa branch.

LIVERMORE FALLS -- Old tires and rims, bottles and soccer balls were just a few of the items found along the Foundry Road Trail Friday as a Livermore Falls High School health class started a cleanup.
It is part of their environmental health unit, a study of land and air pollution, said health educator Darren Carter. He and Margaret Leclerc brought about 15 student volunteers to the trail site near the Recreation Field on Friday morning. Two other classes were expected to help Friday and a couple on Monday, about 110 students in all, he said.

Alonzo Bodden from NBC's "Last Comic Standing," Darren Carter from "The Tonight Show" and "The Latin Kings of Comedy," comedy act Throwing Toasters, Evan Wecksell from VH1 and E! Entertainment Television, and film, television and radio personality Mark Moseley will be at the event. "Funny For A Reason" will be hosted by Trinity Children's Foundation's "comedy diva" Cher.
