Former Utah State quarterback and current Montreal Alouettes signal-caller Anthony Calvillo was named the Canadian Football League Offensive Player of the Week after his milestone performance in Saturday's season-opening win over Hamilton.
Calvillo, who played at USU from 1992-93, opening his 15th CFL season by completing 25-of-37 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. The veteran also showed that he still has the ability to run the ball, carrying five times for 23 yards. The biggest play of the day came when Calvillo connected with Jason Armstead for a 22-yard play that put him ahead of Danny McManus (53,255 yards) for second on the all-time CFL passing list. Damon Allen holds the CFL career passing record with 72,381 yards from 1985-2007.

In July 2005, [Damon Allen] joined the sanitation department. Last September 14, at 4 a.m. while on his route in Canarsie, Brooklyn, he saw flames raging from a first-floor apartment on Remsen Avenue. As Allen approached the burning apartment, he caught Emani when her father Damion Whyte, escaping from the third floor, tossed her from the balcony. The fire was so intense that three fire fighters were injured extinguishing the blaze.

Local attorney Jim Allen introduced [Damon J. Keith] and thanked him for standing up to President Richard Nixon over the government's desire to conduct electronic wiretapping operations against citizens in a famous case dubbed the "Keith Case" in 1971, calling him one of his heroes.
Keith turned the attention back to [Marilyn Kelly], praising her for "straightening out a court that hasn't always been straight" and exemplifying the selfless theme of the night with his speech.
