OAK HILL - An Oak Hill man was arrested Thursday for growing marijuana inside his home. Jason Edward Davis, 33, was charged with a felony after deputies investigated an anonymous tip. They discovered Davis had three "grow rooms" with cultivation lamps and a ventilation system, said Detective Sgt. S.M. Gray, of the Fayette County Sheriff's Drug Unit, in a news release.

Q: Please tell me how to get rid of thistles in a vegetable garden. They are overwhelming this year. A: Canadian thistle is a perennial weed, making it difficult to control unless the entire root system is dug up. Continuous pulling or hoeing can weaken the root system, but it may take several years of doing this to eradicate a well-established stand. Taking a cultivator or tiller through them may do little more than spread bits of the rhizome around that will result in even a larger thistle patch. So for a short term control method, herbicides will probably give the best control. Glyphosate would be a good choice. If applied in late September or October before a frost, the control that is achieved is better than applying it in the spring or summer because it is more readily moved down ...
