LONG BEACH -- Despite objections from some area residents, a proposed hotel, athletics training center and office complex at Cal State Dominguez Hills cleared another hurdle toward approval Tuesday at a meeting of the California State University Board of Trustees.
A board committee at CSU headquarters in Long Beach voted unanimously to authorize Anschutz Southern California Sports Complex, LLC, to build a $55 million addition to the firm's Home Depot Center development on the campus.

Tuition rates at California State University, Northridge and other CSU campuses have been among the fastest growing in the nation in recent years, according to a new website launched by the federal Department of Education.

Colorado Springs Utilities this week put out a request for proposals to buy 50 megawatts of wind power that would come online by the end of 2012.
CSU principal engineer Chris Neil, who is overseeing the bid process, said the wind power will represent 5 percent of CSU's generation capacity and move the utility toward its goal of producing 20 percent of its energy from renewable sources by 2020. It would be CSU's first large-scale wind power project.
