The Credit Union of Colorado is expanding its services in Colorado Springs with a $1 million service center in the Marketplace at Austin Bluffs.
The Denver-based credit union has been in Colorado Spring for years, operating a small service center at 3609 Austin Bluffs Parkway, but the service center lacked tellers and other traditional branch services.

The Credit Union Association of Colorado has selected board officers for 2008-09.
Doug Ferraro, president/CEO of Bellco Credit Union in Denver, will serve as chairman.

- Tom Devine has been named president of Diamond Materials Tech in Colorado Springs and will assume the position of CEO later this year as current CEO John Brenan transitions into retirement. Devine previously was CEO of North Carolina-based Boon Edam and has held senior operational and general management roles at a variety of technology-based companies. - Security Service Federal Credit Union announced the promotion of Mark Wild to senior vice president of lending for the mountain region. Wild holds a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. He joined the credit union in 1991 as manager of indirect lending and has since held positions of increased responsibility, most recently serving as vice president of Colorado lending. His 29 years of experience also includes employment with Bank One and First Bank System.

Nearly 50 years after some Ent Air Force Base workers pooled $600 in savings to start Ent Federal Credit Union, the institution has surpassed $2 billion in assets, officials of the credit union announced Friday.
Ent dominates the financial landscape of the Colorado Springs area as a top mortgage lender, a major source of credit for consumers and businesses and a provider of a host of other services, ranging from investments to insurance.

As I reported on csbj.com last week, the credit union associations of Colorado, Arizona and Wyoming have signed a letter of intent to merge.
The point of the union is, as you might imagine, yet another sign of the times -- figuring out how to run lean and efficiently. On the other hand, a merger would mean less in annual dues for the member credit unions, and, likely, more education and services.

The Credit Union Association of Colorado, the Credit Union Association of Wyoming, and the Arizona Credit Union League have signed a letter-of-intent to merge.
Over the next few months, the three organizations will work together to develop an organizational structure, create a final business plan, and seek approval of the three states' members.

An Aurora man was sentenced to one year in jail for failing to produce documents into his Virgin Islands-based credit union to the Colorado Division of Securities.
