When it comes to Willy Wonka factory experiences, few places match the Blue Bell Creameries ice cream plant in Broken Arrow.
Architect Wally Wozencraft of Tulsa-based Wozencraft Mowery & Associates designed the 110,000-square-foot complex not just to make millions of gallons of delicious desserts a year, but also to actively demonstrate that process for consumer tours, which happen every 30 minutes during production hours. Just like Adam West's Batcave, large signs identify key machines for easy reading from overhead rooms, with clear views of almost the entire ice cream- making process. And each tour ends with a fresh scoop from the factory store.

If you're used to eating factory-farmed pig meat, then pastured pork really is a different animal. And there are many other issues involved in the taste of the meat, including but not limited to the breed of the porker, type of food during lifetime and finishing, where life was spent and the method of slaughter. All of the pastured pork available to Marinites at either farmers markets or local farm shops/CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture) is raised on grass with supplements of local and Midwestern grain. Some local farms get whey and cast-off dairy products from local creameries - and most pigs forage, which in some cases is on acorns or waln...

The will highlight, each week, top-quality artisan or imported cheeses available in Evansville.
In honor of this year's Super Bowl finalists, the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers, our section will feature cheeses from two high-quality American creameries: Udderly Hot, a pepper-infused American Homestead Havarti from Calkins Creamery in Honesdale, Pa.; and an American Fontina from Carr Valley Cheese, in La Valle, Wis.
