Few previous studies comparing online and traditional courses have focused on undergraduate management courses. Our results complement previous analyses finding that, when we control for factors such as class, major, and GPA, students in online courses do as well in objective measures of performance, but not better than students in traditional courses. We also found that in the online sections, females performed at least as well as males. We discuss these results in relation to some changes in online education and the persistent perception by some that online education is somewhat problematic because students need more discipline in online courses.

This paper focuses on understanding the differential effect of students' mathematical background (prerequisite) knowledge on Statistics course. Introductory Statistics is one of the required courses for business and economics majors. Students can choose one of several mathematics based prerequisite courses to gain necessary background knowledge for the Statistics course. Among several possible prerequisite courses, we considered only two different calculus courses as background knowledge for Statistics course to compare; namely Applied Calculus and Calculus-I. Students' success on subsequent course is greatly affected by the prerequisite courses taken by students. Mathematical topics vary widely among these courses providing different breadth of background knowledge to prepare students ...

We investigate the effects of monetary incentives on accounting student motivation. Using a within-persons decision modeling approach and Russian accounting student participants to investigate potential motivators, we find students with monetary incentives p laced significantly less emphasis on their overall grade-point average and significantly more emphasis on esteem in the eyes of classmates. Our results suggest monetary incentives do not undermine personal satisfaction, an intrinsic motivator. Finally, in the context of improving course performance, we find students with monetary incentives tend to value the attractiveness of academic success over the expectancy of success in making their effort-level decisions, whereas students without monetary incentives tend to value the expectan...

The purpose of this research paper is to further understand and focus on distance learning (DL) as a viable education method and to discuss the challenges associated with DL course delivery as well as to examine assessment of DL outcomes, such as student performance and satisfaction. The proposed study will also seek to expand the relevance of performance, perception and measurement in distance learning technology. At the same time, DL is proposed as an important trend in providing educational service. The DL milieu must also be evaluated in order to establish its ability to provide a high quality educational experience.

The trial court did not err in granting summary judgment in favor of appellees upon all claims when the appellees presented undisputed evidence that established that the parties orally modified a contract, which contained a no-oral-modification clause, through their course of performance. Ohio law precludes the advancement of an unjust enrichment claim where it is undisputed that a valid and enforceable agreement controls the parties relationship.

The First Lady of Crunk & B (a genre that mixes crunk music and R&B) aka Ciara proved to be more than just an opening act when she performed before Jay-Z hit the stage. The concert held on July 7 at the Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island, also included rapper Fabolous, who performed his new single Throw It in the Bag.
I heard there ain't no patty like a Chi-town party. Well come and party with me," Ciara invited the Chicago authence as she danced to songs from her new album, Fantasy Ride. Along with her background dancers, she showed how at a Ciara concert, anything goes. During the course of her performance, she did several splits with what seemed like little to no effort at all.
