Eric Richard Alexie Jr., of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2011. Eric was born on October 26, 1946, in Norfolk, Va. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vera Mae Alexie and the Rev. Eric Richard Alexie Sr. Being the son of a Methodist minister, he lived in many locations in Virginia. Eric graduated from Greensville County High School in Emporia Va., Ferrum College, and Randolph Macon College. He Earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and minored in Fine Arts.
GREENSVILLE | A prison inmate has been indicted on a first- degree murder charge in the stabbing of an inmate from Portsmouth. Bernard Jay Dingle, 34, is accused of killing Eric O. Harris, 23, on Feb. 20 at Greensville Correctional Center. They were in a cell together, "and the victim comes out and was stabbed," Commonwealth's Attorney Patricia Watson of Greensville County said.

Mrs. Elaine Celestine Ford Jefferson, loving wife and mother, was called to eternal rest on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Johnston- Willis Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born in Jarratt, Va., on Oct. 21, 1945, to the late John and Eva Palmer Ford. At an early age, she joined Jerusalem Baptist Church in Jarratt, Va. She recently became a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Petersburg, Va. A graduate of Greensville County Schools, Elaine continued her education, earning a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from Virginia State College (University) in Petersburg, Va., and a master's degree in social work from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. David Lee Brown, 57, of 224 South St., Petersburg, Va., entered into eternal rest Saturday morning, Feb. 16, 2008, at Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center, Emporia, Va. He was a native of Greensville County, Va., and was born Aug. 21, 1950, to the late George Brown Sr. of Washington, D.C. and the late Annie Belle Brown of Petersburg, Va. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Velma Short Brown. He was educated in Dinwiddie County School Systems, Dinwiddie, Va. He was a member of Greater Faith Apostolic Church, Petersburg, Va., and was a member of the Community Volunteers Choir. He was employed at North and South Construction Co., Richmond, Va.
