CUBA CITY, Wis. - When it comes to agriculture, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker knows his oats, not to mention corn and Holstein dairy cows.
On Friday morning, Walker appeared at Tranel Farms USA in southern Grant County for a campaign rally in front of an estimated 300 people. The event, hosted by Republican state Rep. Travis Tranel and his wife, Stephanie, was punctuated by frequent applause and cheers.

The FHWA, on behalf of Caltrans, is issuing this notice to announce actions taken by Caltrans that are final within the meaning of 23 U.S.C. 139(l) (1). The actions relate to a proposed highway project, Interstate 15 at Base Line Road (post mile [PM] 6.3 to 7.1) in the City of Rancho Cucamonga (west of I-15) and the City of Fontana (east of I- 15) in San Bernardino County, State of California. Those actions grant licenses, permits, and approvals for the project.

No longer does Yakima County have more apple trees than any other county in the state.
We may still have more acreage. But Grant County has more trees in the ground -- more than 19 million, compared with 18 million in Yakima County.

Sheriff's Department gets funding
The Sheriff's Department will receive the lion's share of an $8.9 million grant to County from the Department of Homeland Security, in an allocation approved Tuesday by the Board of Supervisors.
