  • PRESQUE ISLE - The Central Aroostook Kennel Club awarded a lifetime membership and presented a clock plaque to longtime member Mel Berube during its Christmas dinner on Dec. 5 at Gramm Russo's. Berube was one of 17 people who agreed in 1972 to start a club for owners of purebred dogs who wanted to participate in breed shows and obedience classes with their animals. The original club was named Aroostook County Kennel Club. The American Kennel Club later changed its name to Central Aroostook Kennel Club.
