Swipe Dri Mark's counterfeit detection pen on a phony $20 bill and the ink comes out black, like a permanent marker. If it's real money, the ink is gold and fades over time.
The specialty ink in the pen is nothing new; Dri Mark purchased the patent from its inventor more than 20 years ago. What is new is the company's product that combines the counterfeit detection pen - made right at their plant in Port Washington - and a high- wavelength, light-emitting diode, ultraviolet light bulb, explained Dri Mark CEO Cathy Williams Owen. The company currently has a patent pending on the pen-light bulb combination, the only one of its kind in the market for counterfeit detection products.
