NORFOLK - Retired U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Robert Edward Hockman, 78, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010. Mr. Hockman was born Feb. 26, 1931 in Easton, Pa. He advanced to the enlisted rate of E-9 and was commissioned an ensign in 1961 retiring as LCDR (LDO) after 28 years of active duty. He was a disabled American Veteran. He also retired from the Dept. of Veterans Affairs as a counseling psychologist and vocational rehabilitation counselor after 15 years. He graduated from California State University, San Bernardino with a Master of Arts and St. Mary's University of San Antonio, Texas, magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts. Robert was proud to have celebrated his 35th year of sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous.
