He advanced to the enlisted rate of E-9 and was commissioned an ensign in 1961 retiring as LCDR (LDO) after 28 years of active duty. He was a disabled American Veteran. He also retired from the Dept. of Veterans Affairs as a counseling psychologist and vocational rehabilitation counselor after 15 years. He graduated from California State University, San Bernardino with a Master of Arts and St. Mary's University of San Antonio, Texas, magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts. Robert was proud to have celebrated his 35th year of sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous.
