Teachers at Milwaukee Area Technical College will get pay raises and new domestic-partner benefits but pay more for health care under a three-year contract the district board ratified Wednesday. The school's roughly 1,400 faculty and paraprofessionals already pay deductibles and co-pays for doctor's office visits and prescriptions. But now, for the first time, they will share monthly health care premiums, paying $28 for individuals and $55 for families under the least expensive plan. That's an estimated 4.4% of the total premium cost of that plan.

This paper looks at a common type of price adjustment, price indexing, which provides contractors with compensation for increases in price volatile commodities. We address the effect of Firm Fixed Price (FFP) versus indexed price systems for a price volatile commodity. The impact of these two types of bid systems is analyzed through a combined qualitative and quantitative analysis. Results indicate that an indexed price system does not provide a reduction in costs compared to a Firm Fixed Price system. This study is important to state financial managers as they address the efficient use of resources invested in state infrastructure.

This paper considers a periodic-review inventory system consisting of a manufacturer and a retailer, where the manufacturer introduces new and improved products over an infinite planning horizon using the solo-roll strategy.
