Man who killed NFL player is sentenced DENVER -- A gang member convicted of killing Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams in a drive-by shooting was sentenced Friday to life in prison plus 1,152 years after family members recounted the devastating impact of the killing.

DENVER - Even before Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was shot and killed after a New Year's Eve party, professional athletes worried about their safety. Some have hired bodyguards and some own guns to protect themselves.
DENVER | Suspected gang member Willie Clark was found guilty of murder Thursday in the drive-by shooting death of Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams after a New Year's Eve outing three years ago. Clark showed no emotion as the verdict was read, but leaned back and looked at the ceiling after the jury was dismissed. He gave a small smile to relatives before he was taken from the courtroom in handcuffs.
The Broncos jumped on the Steelers early with a very balanced attack but mostly through the air with young quarterback Jay Cutler. DENVER - Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was killed early Monday when his white stretch Hummer was sprayed by bullets after a nightclub dispute following a New Year's Eve party. Police have no motive and no indication the 24-year-old player was targeted in the drive-by shooting of the limousine. The burst of violence occurred hours after the Broncos were eliminated from playoff contention.
