NEW YORK, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- New York, a city already famous for high style and a cosmopolitan culture, got a little more chic with the launch of the North American Decor(k) Tour in Herald Square today, courtesy of the Portuguese Cork Association (APCOR). The goal of the Decor(k) Tour - which will visit 16 cities across the United States and Canada - is to educate consumers about the different styles and varieties of Portuguese cork flooring, and will feature a 53 foot-long mobile showroom designed by "Divine Design" host Candice Olson. Inside the showroom, visitors will enjoy a "feet on" experience of cork flooring's unique comfort and resiliency while viewing different room layouts and flooring applications designed by Olson. Additional displays will allow visitors to see how cor...
For a while last night, Rock Bridge bottled up the Jefferson City running game exactly as scripted, grinding out what Bruins Coach A.J. Ofodile called his defense's best half of football this season. Then the area's leading runner shook up that bottle and sprayed touchdowns all over Rock Bridge Field.
When entertaining clients, don't let that wine list intimidate you. Instead, you might simply consult the SmartCellar. The oenophile meets the technophile in the SmartCellar, a handheld digital device designed by Plainview-based Incentient Transaction Services to make wine-ordering fun, educational and, above all, simple. The two-year-old technology is catching on; after popping its cork in some of London and New York City's tonier bistros - and, yes, even Cleveland - the SmartCellar is debuting on Long Island, at Syosset's Rare650 restaurant.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn., July 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Tennessee's first green hospital aims to heal patients and the environment at the same time. Every aspect of the new Franklin Woods Community Hospital, located in 135-acre Med Tech Park in Johnson City, Tenn., was built with people and the natural world in mind. Cork floors, wooden beams, and panoramic views of the nearby Smokey Mountains create a peaceful atmosphere inside. Exterior design features such as an extensive underground system that funnels runoff water into retention ponds reduce the environmental impact.

SAN DIMAS - The canopy is gone, but the cork has barely popped on a legal battle between the city and the owner of the San Dimas Wine Shop. Since December the city has been after Wine Shop owner Heidi Daniels to tear down an unpermitted canopy in front of the store, which Daniels said was to keep customers warm. And Daniels defied the city every step of way until Monday, when she finally had the canopy removed after the city threatened to take her landlord to court.

DAILY MAIL STAFF For more than 80 years, probably the biggest change to Charleston City Council chambers would be when its cork floor was swabbed with another coat of shellac.
