This paper examines personality traits as antecedents to perceptions of the usefulness and intention to use a virtual reality team (VRT) environment at an early stage of virtual team education. Subjects watched a training video emphasizing communication in VRTs across various boundaries including time, culture, social norms, and organizational expectations. Subjects then completed and returned surveys collecting relevant constructs. Support for the proposed model was found in which personality traits predicted propensity to trust and technology communication anxiety. In addition, propensity to trust and technology communication anxiety predicted perceived VRT usefulness and intention to use VRTs respectively. The model suggests that both stable personality traits such as extraversion an...

Based on the analysis of the specific environment in which football clubs compete, this paper presents a comparative institutional analysis of three paradigmatic structures of football club governance: privately owned football firms, public football corporations (stock corporations with dispersed ownership) and members' associations with an own legal personality (Verein). Against the background that "spending power" is the main driver of competitive advantage for clubs in the overinvestment environment of European football, the governance structure of the privately owned football firm exhibits superior abilities to tap sources of funding and channel them into playing talent. The results of the analysis are applied to current developments in German and English football and to recent init...

In 1676 the Quakers bought West New Jersey and wrote into its charter a pacifist military policy.7 In 1703, however, West and East New Jersey merged and a new militia law required military service.8 But when a sympathetic jury refused to convict any of the Quakers who refused to enter military service, the militia law lost support and was not renewed.9 All subsequent New Jersey militia acts contained exemptions specifically for Quakers.10 When Virginia Quakers refused to participate in hostilities during the French and Indian War of 1756, Colonel George Washington was so impressed with the depth and sincerity of their beliefs that he released the Quakers from confinement and essentially relieved them of their service commitment.11 As Quakers and other pacifists12 continued to resist mil...
