S. Bankruptcy Judge Charles E. Rendlen III said last week that he would approve the settlement that calls for brothers Darain and Cory Atkinson to surrender millions of dollars they allegedly stripped from their business, US Fidelis, an auto-service contract company in Wentzville.
Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster and others had objected to the settlement, arguing in part that the agreement left too much money on the table. According to the research firm IDC, the market for HR business process outsourcing in the US alone is expected to reach $15.3 billion by 2007. It's the fastest-growing segment of HR services. Global companies, in particular, are concluding that running HR in house no longer makes business sense. In the US, new and complex employment regulations and liabilities have added layers of increased risk. Outsourcing mitigates the effects of economic cycles and the need to expand or contract work forces. At the same time, the company benefits from the service provider's investment in research and development. Outsourcing agreements are not stopgap measures. They are long-term strategic partnerships, where the provider supports an organization's HR capabilities.
