While limited research has been conducted on Chinese women's purchase behavior of apparel products, none has been undertaken to determine the socio/political/economic underpinnings of such behavior. Based on three in-depth focus group interviews with women in Beijing, a 104-item survey was developed and distributed to women between the ages of 20 and 60. Using a confirmatory factor analysis, data from 524 surveys were analyzed. Six factors were extracted. A 24-item rating scale was developed, using highly loading items from the six factors.
