The Office of the Assistant Secretary--Indian Affairs (AS-IA), the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), and the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) are hosting several upcoming tribal consultation sessions. The purpose of the sessions is to obtain tribal input on: the Administrative Organizational Assessment Draft Report on the organization of the AS-IA; ways to streamline the organizations of the BIA and the BIE; Johnson-O'Malley student count update; and the draft SF-424B assurance statement--non-construction programs.

John Duke Anthony reports on the 1997 summit meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). He was joined by representative from Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in what he calls one of the most productive GCC gatherings in five years. Political, defense and security issues were discussed, however the most paramount discussion involved furthering economic cooperation.

The EPA is partially approving and partially disapproving a revision to the Arkansas State Implementation Plan (SIP) intended to address the regional haze (RH) requirements of the Clean Air Act (CAA or Act). In addition, EPA is partially approving and partially disapproving the portion of the Arkansas Interstate Transport SIP submittal that addresses the visibility requirement of section 110(a)(2)(D)(i)(II) for the 1997 8-hour ozone and 1997 fine particulate matter (PM<INF>2.5</INF>) national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS) that the Arkansas SIP contain adequate provisions to prohibit emissions from interfering with measures required in another state to protect visibility. This article addresses selected recent developments relating to the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in the energy industry from January 2008 through January 2009. The US Department of Energy (DOE) defines ADR as "[A]ny technique for resolving disputes without resorting to litigation in either an administrative or judicial forum." Towards this end, the DOE maintains the Office Of Conflict Prevention and Resolution, which is tasked with providing "advice and support for ADR initiatives" throughout the DOE, as well as consultation on "resolving disputes and cases in litigation." LONDON - English courts may restrict the public's freedom to post Twitter updates from inside hearings to avoid the risk of prejudicing trials, the head of the judiciary in England and Wales said Monday.
