WASHINGTON, May 4 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The 30th anniversary of OSHA's On-Site Consultation Training Conference in Westminster, Colo., provided the setting yesterday for presentation of the first William J. Higgins award to recognize a state employee from the consultation program for his or her sustained level of excellence in servicing the small business community.
Dr. William H. Weems, on-site consultation program manager for Alabama, was the first recipient of what will become an annual award program named for Dr. William J. Higgins, the first national office director for the program in 1975. Higgins was one of three OSHA staff who authored the first consultation program regulations that initially included just 13 states.

LONDON (HedgeWorld.com) - The Hedge Fund Working Group, a forum composed of the leaders of Britain's biggest hedge funds, has issued a consultation paper urging improved disclosure to investors through enshrining best practice standards across the industry.
The two-part, 128-page paper is a comprehensive guide to a wide array of best practice issues and solutions. The working group is inviting responses until Dec. 14. It intends to issue its final report in January 2008. Copies of the report are available at.

A probationer is suing Morristown officials, a town-funded counseling center and some of its staff, alleging he was molested by a convicted sex offender masquerading as a doctor.

GREENVILLE - A man who enjoys working with kids and helping senior citizens is Greenville's newest police chief.
Jeff Pomerleau, 41, who previously was a sergeant in the Greenville Police Department and most recently served as acting chief, was appointed for the position this week by Greenville Town Manager John Simko after consultation with the Board of Selectmen. He takes the place of Scott MacMaster, who accepted a similar position in southern Maine.

Hunter-Davisson Inc. was presented Friday with the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration's top safety distinction. The heating ventilation and air conditioning contractor is now one of nine construction companies in the state to qualify for the administration's Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP).
