A surge in exports of U.S. construction equipment and farm machinery is pouring billions of dollars into Wisconsin and the Midwest.
Small developing nations such as Turkmenistan are accounting for some of the export growth as they build cities, roads and industries. The Central Asian country imported $96 million worth of U.S. farm machinery the first six months of the year, up 146% from a year ago, according to figures released this week from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, a Milwaukee trade group.

Construction equipment manufacturers anticipate overall business to close out 2011 with double-digit increases over the last year.
For 2011, overall business in the U.S. is expected to grow 18.6 percent compared to 2010. Growth will continue in 2012 through 2014 but at a slower pace, according to the business outlook survey of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers.

OEM Fabricators Inc. has recently expanded with a 12,000-square- foot addition to its Woodville facility while growing operations at its Neillsville facility, and has plans for a satellite operation in Prentice. The company also intends to hire more than 100 new employees, according to a news release from OEM.
OEM offers design, fabrication, welding, machining, shot blast, painting and assembly and serves original equipment manufacturers in the construction industry and other fields.
