DAYTON -- Eric W. Deaton, the former Constitution Party candidate for U.S. Senate accused of having sex with a teenage girl, pleaded no contest Wednesday to two misdemeanor counts. Deaton, 43, of New Lebanon, was indicted on one count of unlawful sex with a minor, a felony. He went to trial on that charge in January in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, but when a jury deadlocked, a visiting judge declared a mistrial on Jan. 6.
COLUMBUS -- The Ohio Tea Party PAC has endorsed Robert Owens, the Constitution Party candidate, for attorney general instead of backing Republican Mike DeWine. Owens is the first statewide candidate endorsed by the PAC in the general election, a press release said.
Among the many comments on legislative redistricting I received last week was a plan drawn by Jeff Becker of Inwood, the Constitution Party's candidate for U.S. Senate last year, to create 100 single-member House of Delegate districts. In and of itself, Becker's plan isn't particularly newsworthy. It's just one of many armchair-redistricting proposals floating around. (By now, I'm sure Thornton Cooper has at least several dozen alternatives sketched out.)
PASADENA, Md. /U.S. Newswire/ -- Michael A. Peroutka, Constitution Party presidential candidate, has issued the following statement regarding the final outcome of last night's presidential election: I am most grateful to all of you who have supported our campaign and share our desire to restore our original God-honoring American Constitutional Republic. As the campaign has come to an end, I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and encouragement from all corners of the country. I am deeply grateful for your prayers for me, for my wife, Diane and our children, Beth, Patrick and Timothy.
The three candidates running in West Virginia's 2nd Congressional District race diverged, sometimes dramatically, on how to best serve the district's people. Democrat Virginia Lynch Graf and Constitution Party candidate Phil Hudok are challenging Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va.
WASHINGTON, Feb. 26 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following is a statement by Michael Anthony Peroutka, Constitution Party presidential candidate: President Bush, strangely, has chosen to run for re-election as if he has never been President. Like the Queen in 'Alice In Wonderland,' who sometimes believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast, Bush wants the American people to believe several impossible things.
Tom Tancredo has been an underdog before. From his first election to the Colorado statehouse in 1976, to squeaking though a five-man Republican Congressional primary in 1998 to his long-shot run for president in 2008, he's battled conventional wisdom. And in fleeing the GOP to run as the American Constitution party candidate for Colorado governor, Tancredo sees an opportunity to ride a tidal wave of voter discontent to one of the biggest upsets in Colorado political history.
WASHINGTON, April 19 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following statement is from Michael Anthony Peroutka, Constitution Party Presidential candidate: By actively campaigning in Pennsylvania to support extreme liberal Sen. Arlen Specter against a conservative opponent, President Bush has put party over principle. If re-elected, Specter is in line to be Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. This would be a serious setback for Constitutional, conservative government since Specter's record shows that he is an enemy of both.
