* Anyone who is against Social Security is anti-American. They have anti-American values of consideration for others and responsibilities for our elderly. They should not be running for public office.
* As far as Obama extending the tax cuts that Bush gave the rich, he didn't do that because he thought it was a good idea. He was extending an olive branch, and they grabbed it and hit him over the head with it. Now he's just trying to correct a past mistake.

One hundred twenty-five years ago, George J. Varney summed up the origins of Eddington in "A Gazetteer of the State of Maine.
This township, at the recommendation of Congress, was granted to Jonathan Eddy and 19 others, Varney wrote, in consideration of their services and sufferings in connection with the Revolution. They were residents of Nova Scotia, but fled thence in 1776, on account of the persecution of the British. This grant was made in 1785, and the place was immediately settled. The town was incorporated in 1811, taking its name from Col. Eddy, the principal settler."

As graduating students march to "Pomp and Circumstance" during their commencement ceremonies, they and their fans in the audience must remember to honor the pomp part of the occasion, school officials say.

Despite objections about a lack of competitiveness, divisions of like-minded communities and concerns that some regions were given more consideration than others, the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission approved a draft legislative map, one day before it begins a 30-day series of public hearings.
The commission voted 4-1 to approve the map at a meeting Monday in Tucson, with Republican Commissioner Richard Stertz casting the lone dissenting vote. The IRC will begin its public hearings on its legislative and congressional maps Tuesday at Phoenix College.

Chief judges wield power. Among other things, they control judicial assignments, circulate petitions to their colleagues, and manage internal requests and disputes. When exercising this power, do chiefs seek to serve as impartial court administrators or do they attempt to manufacture case outcomes that reflect their political beliefs? Because chiefs exercise their power almost entirely outside public view, no one knows. No one sees the chief judge change the composition of a panel before it is announced or delay consideration of a petition for en banc review or favor the requests of some colleagues while ignoring those of others. Chiefs do exercise one very public power, however. Chiefs decide when to step down and whether to remain in active service. Because their dates of departure de...

Dear Abby: My son, "Peter," is in college working on a postgraduate degree. He arranged a date with a young woman while they were home over the holidays. After accepting the first date and breaking it, she agreed to a second one. As Peter was driving to pick her up, he called to double-check her address only to be told she was still at a previous engagement. Peter expected she'd call back when she was free -- but she didn't. There was no further communication.
What is happening to young people today? Do texting and online social networking encourage them to avoid consideration of others? My thoughtful, sensitive son sat home thinking he wasn't important enough for an explanation! At 26, he's beginning to think he should just focus on finishing school and forget the dating scene.

[...] this lady's comparison of the board members to "your crazy great-uncle who thinks Martians are spying on him through a hole in the attic." Why not use it as a protective device against, among others, liberal columnists? [...] in the future, Texas demands textbook consideration of the intellectual achievements of Milton Friedman and Friedrich Hayeka timely demand, indeed, what with the resurgence in the Obama era of Keynesian-Krugmaniteredistributionist economics.
