Tom Stith, the prep star from Brooklyn who came to St. Bonaventure and became the school's first consensus All-American and earned an enduring place in Bonnies' history, died Sunday. He was 71. His death was announced by the university.

Vecsey called Stith "one of New York City's all-time top 10 schoolboy stars," a list that without question includes Lew Alcindor and Connie Hawkins. When Stith enrolled at St. Bonaventure, he turned the Bonnies into a national powerhouse.
