A video teleconferencing system has solved some of the workday problems that existed for employees at Colgate-Palmolive. Some employees had to shuttle back and forth between the New York office and the offices in New Jersey in addition to commuting to and from their homes. Much of the day was spent on the road. The company credits its videoconferencing system with considerable cost savings and productivity increases. The biggest asset has been improved communications between the work groups in each state. At least 20 videoconferences per month are scheduled between the two sets of offices. The system employs a new technology from Concept Communications Inc and cost $20,000 per unit.
