A fast-growing, Boston-based technology firm announced Tuesday that it will expand into Lewiston, in a move that some say indicates Maine has become an attractive destination for the technology industry. Boston-based Carbonite Inc., which sells online computer and file backup systems to consumers and businesses, will open a customer service center in Lewiston this summer. The opening will mark the company's entry into Maine.
The former Liberty Lake-based banking software division of Dutch computer-services giant Getronics has a new owner, Dallas-based CompuCom Systems Inc. It also has a revised strategy that its new director says should help bolster its global presence. The division's current flagship software, called Globalfs, is a customizable suite of software applications that automates financial business processes for bank branches, call centers, and home banking.

Reynolds and Reynolds, the $1 billion software and services company, plans to keep its name and Kettering headquarters, but going private takes it off the list of those in which local investors can go on the market to buy shares.
