MANAMA, Bahrain, July 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Convening in the third official session of the comprehensive National Dialogue, delegates from all factions considered a variety of proposals in its four official working groups. Participants discussing political reform largely debated the need to change the composition of the cabinet. Some delegates supported reform to have the cabinet better reflect the composition of the elected parliament while others expressed support for limiting the terms of ministerial appointment to a maximum of eight years. In addition, participants discussed the possibility of establishing a parliamentary right of veto over the government's four-year work plan.

THE BRUCE Golding-led Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) administration is now fully empowered to carry out its governmental duties with the swearing-in on Monday, September 17, of 11 ministers of state and two parliamentary secretaries, by Governor-General Professor Kenneth Hall at King's House, St. Andrew. Declaring that the transition from the Portia Simpson Miller-led administration was now complete, Mr. Golding said the composition of Parliament was not finalised, but he would be advising the Governor-General, before the end of the week, of the nomination of the remaining six positions in the Senate.

This study is concerned primarily with a systematic analysis of Lebanon's most recent election, its characteristics and results. The methodology or research procedure that is utilized is both descriptive and analytical. Following a brief discussion of Lebanon's major political developments in relation to the preparations for elections, Part One concentrates on the elections in each of the country's five provinces, the degree of competitiveness and the extent of voter participation within each. Part Two provides a detailed description of the process of elite recruitment and replacement. The final part examines the impact of these elections in a time of political transition, and more specifically provides a view of the political changes underway in Lebanon.
