MILLERSBURG -- The May 9 meeting of the Classy Critters Club was held at Cornerstone Community Church, where pledges were led by Jenna Stertzbach and Whitney Miller. Secretary Jenna Stertzbach reminded members about quality assurance clinics and other important dates. Members gave several ideas for community service projects and voted on three projects they will complete. Fair booth ideas and decorations were discussed and it was voted to make most of the decorations.

• Martinsburg Chamber to Focus On Needs of Women in Business

Zacks said past speakers have included first lady Gayle Manchin, former Secretary of State Betty Ireland, BB&T President Phyllis Arnold, State Supreme Court of Appeals Justice Margaret Workman and Susan Brewer of Steptoe & Johnson, the first woman to serve as managing partner of a major law firm in West Virginia. Combs said she encouraged committee members to think about ideas beyond creating a mentoring network and tackle a community service project and other programs that would help others but not necessarily address members' own needs.

The Graffiti Advisory Committee, part of the Jurupa Valley Community Service District, brainstormed ideas from forming online groups to developing brochures highlighting the consequences.

COLUMBUS -- Ohio State University Department of Animal Sciences and Youth Development will offer a Food Animal Products Academy on June 29-July 1 in Columbus. MILLERSBURG -- The Holmes County Junior Fair Board met June 10 and discussed opportunities for community service projects, voted on T-shirt ideas and signed up to collect pen assignment entries. The Junior Fair Board will play host to a garage sale on Saturday in the morning at the fairgrounds. Members can take items to sell to the fairgrounds on Friday evening to sort and price the items.

• Soldiers Class Helps Out with Habitat Project

At a previous duty station, 1st Lt. Chris Hall had arranged for his fellow soldiers to work on a Habitat for Humanity project; however, he had to work that day. When members of his Signal Officers Basic Course at Fort Gordon began brainstorming ideas for community service projects, 1st Lt. Hall made arrangements to work with Augusta's Habitat for Humanity.
