Tammy Fletcher has joined The Arc of Howard County as assistant director of quality assurance. She is responsible for promoting and protecting the rights, safety, satisfaction, and community inclusion of the individuals supported by the agency. Fletcher previously worked on the quality assurance & review team for the Developmental Disabilities Administration of Maryland. She was quality improvement coordinator and earlier a coordinator in the supported living department of The Arc of Northern Chesapeake Region. Dr. Kaiser, age 86, resident of Phoenix, Arizona, died Wednesday, December 22 from respiratory complications.
Grace was born in Chalfont, PA, March 1, 1924, to Chester and Carrie Helsel. For 28 years Dr. Grace Kaiser lived and practiced medicine in the New Holland region among the Amish and Mennonite communities. In her later years, she became known nationally through three books she wrote about her experiences, "Dr. Frau," "Detour" and "Growing Up Farm." The Bucks County native graduated from the College of Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, and was one of two women who graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. The Pirates' 2012 spring training schedule, which was released today, consists of 29 games, plus an intrasquad scrimmage and two exhibitions at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
The intrasquad Black and Gold Game on March 2 will replace the contest against the College of South Florida, and proceeds will benefit the Manatee Education Foundation. It will be the first time in 13 years the Pirates have not played CSF, formerly Manatee County Community College.
