NORWAY - The Family Birthplace at Stephens Memorial Hospital will hold a Preparing for Birth class from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, in the Harper Conference Room, Ripley Medical Building. Gail Martel RNC, ICCE, IBCLC, will facilitate the course.
The group of expectant parents will learn about labor and delivery and relaxation techniques that will help during labor. Coaches will learn how to assist through the process and share in the joy of the baby's birth. Other topics will include making a birthing plan, comfort measures, stages of labor, cesarean delivery and newborn care.

NORWAY -- The Family Birthplace at Stephens Memorial Hospital will hold a Preparing for Birth Class from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 19, Dec. 3 and 10, in Harper Conference Room, down the stairs in the Ripley Medical Building. Hilary Ware, RN, will facilitate the course.

A 10-week certified nursing assistant class will begin Monday, Aug. 20. Class will meet Mondays through Thursdays from 6:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Students will learn how to provide personal care and comfort measures to the patient under the charge of a licensed nurse.
The cost is $165 for registration and books and materials. CPR certification and clinical training is provided in this class at an additional fee of $55. There is a $90 fee that is paid to the Red Cross at the end of the class for testing and certification.
