Columbia's economic development organization has decided not to invest in an effort to set up a program that allows foreigners to invest in domestic projects in exchange for visas, but the two groups will still work together. Regional Economic Development Inc. was weighing a $10,000 investment in Liberty Tri-State Regional Center LLC, a business entity set up last year to take advantage of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services' EB-5 visa program.
