Since so many people acted on their attraction to our region and moved here, and because so many others were born here and stayed here, realizing what a wonderful place it is, should any of us be surprised that, politics aside, we tend to agree about preserving the Rocky Mountain West? Colorado College, that prestigious private school in Colorado Springs, commissioned a study as part of its "State of the Rockies" project. Last month, two research firms, one Democratic and one Republican, carried out surveys of 2,200 voters in Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Utah and Montana. They were trying to get an idea of the region's values when it comes to the environment, and how conservation efforts relate to local economies. The results were released last week.
