The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is accepting grant applications for waste diversion and recycling projects. The department has $1.2 million available for 2008.
Entities eligible to apply are: public government agencies (including universities and schools), private sector organizations whose projects benefit their local communities, and out-of-state companies or organizations that are expanding or relocation to Colorado or have an in-state presence.

DENVER, Aug. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Colorado State University and Sierra's Race Against Meningitis joined the Colorado Association of School Nurses (CASN) today in commemoration of the one-year , to urge local parents to vaccinate their preteen and teenage children against meningococcal disease this back-to-school season.
A recent national public health survey shows that only approximately 54 percent of adolescents nationally, and in Colorado, have been vaccinated against meningococcal disease, which is well below the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' goal of 80 percent vaccination coverage for this age group.

By letter dated October 10, 2007, the Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment (CDPHE)'s, Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Division (the Division) submitted a proposal for alternative standards for soil clean up in four areas of the Uravan Site in Montrose County, Colorado. The Division approved the proposed alternative standards and requested the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC or the Commission) concurrence. Colorado's proposed alternative soil standards are to leave the remaining radioactive contamination in place in these four areas without any further remediation.
