DENVER - The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team will hold its annual Burgundy/White Game at Cadet Ice Arena on the grounds of the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 6:30 p.m. This marks the fourth time that the Air Force Academy has hosted the event, as it also welcomed the Burgundy/White Game for three straight years from 2007-09. The 2010 contest was held at 1STBANK Center in Broomfield.

DENVER c For the first time in some 300 days, Bobby DeSoto woke up to some good news Wednesday. DeSoto, who works at a health club in Denver, said he typically attends at least five Colorado Avalanche games per year until a lockout wiped out the 2004-05 NHL season. Hockey SMYTH OUT 8 WEEKS: Colorado Avalanche forward Ryan Smyth has a broken right ankle and will miss up to eight weeks. Smyth was hurt during Colorado's 4-3, overtime loss at Phoenix on Monday. The club said Thursday the fracture was discovered during a follow-up MRI. Smyth has 28 points, third-best on the team, with 11 goals and 17 assists in 36 games.
