St. Charles County Associate Circuit Judge William T. Lohmar Jr. will replace his son, Timothy, on the St. Charles Community College Board of Trustees in January. Judge William Lohmar, who was elected this month, is retiring from the bench at the end of this year. Earlier this month Timothy Lohmar was elected to replace him. College trustees recently appointed his father to the board.

Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan will have a greater say in the governance of the county community college, but a compromise brokered after lengthy negotiations preserved the trustees' ultimate authority over the school. Donovan had sought the ability to indefinitely pull items from the trustees' meeting agendas, but Bergen Community College officials balked, saying it amounted to a preemptive veto that threatened the governing board's autonomy and the school's accreditation.
