On Saturday, local music collective FreeWorld will mark its 20th anniversary with a special reunion and anniversary concert at Newby's. "It's probably going to be chaos," says FreeWorld bassist, co-founder and sole consistent member Richard Cushing. "But it's going to be a lot of fun. Some 40 former FreeWorld alumni are expected to perform at the show, which will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. While that sounds like an impressive number, in fact, it represents just a fraction of the several hundred musicians who've played with the group during the past two decades. "I'm like the Chris Squire of a Memphis Yes," laughs Cushing, referring to the leader of the similarly revolving door English art-rock group. "It's been me and a million other people over the years."

The Lonely H, a five-piece band from Port Angeles, performs in Vancouver and Portland on Saturday. Keyboardist and vocalist Mark Fredson says the group takes a collective approach to songwriting.
