Several weeks ago, I wrote a column about the new "My Coke Rewards" program that gives Coke drinkers prizes for points registered at www.mycokerewards.com. The 12 packs and 20-ounce bottles have special codes on them that shoppers enter into their account at the Web site. My Coke Rewards has a variety of prizes available, including very generous prizes for large point balances.
All organizations take risks. They test new markets, redefine brand identity and ferret out cost savings. But for every Kindle, there is a New Coke. Arguably, some risks reap no rewards, and a few may even land firms in court. In my former life as a lawyer, it was often my job to counsel clients so they could make informed decisions about some of the risks of doing business. The student must also pay expenses for the overseas trips People to People organizes. Alec doesn't know who nominated him, but two teachers and a Boy Scout leader gave recommendations, and once he was accepted, the fundraising began. Alec's grandmother, Janet Monday, sold candy bars while he sold pasta. ...
The My Coke Rewards program clearly spells out in its rules that only legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia are eligible. I don't recall anyone crying foul over this regulation, nor are there accusations of hatred, bigotry or discrimination. Plainly and simply, this entity has rules and observes them. Maybe our national immigration policy could be that simple. Eric Johnsen
Winner of the My Coke Rewards for Schools Sweepstakes, Christ Methodist Day School was one of 10 schools nationwide that enjoyed its own private screening of "More Than a Game," the film documentary based on the life and career of NBA standout LeBron James. Approximately 500 gathered at the Malco Ridgeway Four . My Coke Rewards Event Management representative Ellen Purtell, who had traveled from Wisconsin for the occasion, said that she was impressed with the "incredible enthusiasm of the school administration" at the event. When local Coca Cola representative Eileen Paternostro learned about the sweepstakes win, she was inspired to donate several door prizes, including two mountain bikes, a miniature electric car, and two giant stuffed polar bears, to Christ Methodist Day School and th...
