HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Organizations that work to protect and preserve Pennsylvania's coastal zones along Lake Erie and the Delaware Estuary will benefit from $1.4 million in Coastal Zone Management Grants that were announced today by Environmental Protection Secretary John Hanger.
The annual grants, largely funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, were awarded to 30 non-profit organizations and governmental agencies in counties that border Pennsylvania's coastal zones or have a direct impact on water quality in those areas.

NOAA's Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management (OCRM) announces availability of the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) on the Illinois Coastal Management Program (ICMP). NOAA has received the State of Illinois' application for approval of its coastal management program under the Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA), as amended at 16 U.S.C. 1451-1466, and the implementing regulations at 15 CFR Part 923. The draft ICMP and Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) were released to the public for a 45-day comment period on September 15, 2011, and a public hearing was held in Chicago, Illinois on October 14, 2011 (76 FR 57022). NOAA's OCRM announces the availability of the Record of Decision (ROD) documenting Federal Approval of the Illinois Coastal Management Program (ICMP). The Federal Register Notice (FRN) on the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) on the ICMP was published December 23, 2011 for a 30-day comment period (76 FR 80342). The comment period closed on January 23, 2012. The ROD documents the selection of Alternative 1 (the NOAA preferred alternative) in the final EIS. NOAA makes a final determination that the ICMP constitutes an approvable program and that requirements of the Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) and its implementing regulations have been met.
