CLEVELAND | Danny Ferry resigned Friday as general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers, a surprise decision that complicates the most important offseason in team history.
Two weeks ago, the club fired coach Mike Brown following the team's second-round loss to the Boston Celtics in the NBA playoffs. The team also is making plans to try to re-sign two-time MVP LeBron James, who will be a free agent next month.

CLEVELAND - The buzzer sounded, a sellout crowd erupted in cheers, streamers fell from the rafters and the Cleveland Cavaliers celebrated a payback victory over the Lakers on Wednesday at Quicken Loans Arena.
The Lakers walked from the court in a daze, unable or unwilling to believe what they had witnessed. They ended their seven-game trip with their third consecutive loss, a mind-boggling 104-99 defeat to the Cavaliers.

Considering the current state of the NBA, Thursday was a pretty good day for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Pau Gasol missed a shot, grabbed the rebound and missed again, grabbed the rebound again and scored. Kobe Bryant could have dunked to finish a 3-on-0 fastbreak, but flipped a pass off the backboard for Andrew Bynum to slam.
At times, it looked like the Lakers were toying with the Cleveland Cavaliers. At times, it looked not like the varsity manhandling the junior varsity, but the varsity working over a bunch of scrawny sixth graders on the playground.
