DALTON -- CDR Curtis Owen Murphy, USN Ret, 62, formerly of Massillon and Clay County, W.Va., passed away at home on Wednesday, November 24, 2010, surrounded by his wife and sons. A celebration of life service will be held at Living Water Community Church, 200 N. Kurzen Road, Dalton, 44618 on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 10 a.m. with pastors Mark Hirst and Dan Hostetler presiding. Fellowship and light refreshments will be in the church's Connection Pointe following the service. Interment with military honors will be on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

PORTSMOUTH - The Rev. Dr. Virdie Harris Merritt, 71, of the 1000 block of Liston Lane, died Aug. 8, 2007. She was born in Murfreesboro, N.C., and was the assistant pastor of St. Mark RZUA Church, Norfolk. She was a member of the church's Sweet Hour of Prayer Ministry and Senior Citizen Fellowship.
