CLAREMONT - The Claremont University Consortium plans to cut its 2008-09 operating budget by 9.5 percent for a savings of $2.4 million.
The plan includes an involuntary reduction of 10 staff positions as well as a voluntary early retirement program.

CLAREMONT - Claremont School of Theology's graduate consortium will be named Claremont Lincoln University, honoring a $50 million gift by Joan and David Lincoln.
The donation includes last year's $10 million contribution by the couple and represents the single largest gift since the school was founded in 1885. The consortium, where Christians, Jews and Muslims will pursue divinity degrees under the same roof, is set to open this fall.

WOOSTER -- John Sell, the James R. Wilson Professor of Business Economics at The College of Wooster, has been appointed the school's interim vice president for finance and business. He will fill the position soon to be vacated by Bob Walton, who will leave on June 30 to become chief executive officer of the Claremont University Consortium in Claremont, Calif.
Sell's appointment was approved by the board at a recent meeting. He will begin his new duties on July 1.

CLAREMONT - The Claremont University Consortium announced Friday that it had received a $1.5 million gift that will be used to hire faculty members at the Claremont Colleges.
The gift from the Andrews W. Mellon Foundation will support faculty hiring and retirement transition plans over a five-year period at the Claremont Colleges, according to a Claremont University Consortium news release.
