PETERSBURG - City Manager William E. Johnson III says that Petersburg is a great place to live, work and play. Johnson said that while he sees that, he wants others to see it that way too and is hard at work on transforming the city's image and the city itself so that others will view the city as he does.
To do that, he knows some things need to happen - including improving the city's existing information technology network, bringing more economic development to the city and showcasing and improving the city's recreational options, including Dogwood Trace, the city's golf course.

David Canada has worked for the city for nearly 30 years and as of the of June he officially retired. As city manager for the historic city, he has done much to move the city forward.
But as he is the first to note, there have been things he hasn't accomplished during his tenure - that is the nature of such a position. Obviously, much work remains to be done.
