The game isn't over yet, but University of Colorado Hospital is ahead on points in the first round of scoring who the city should lease Memorial Health System to, followed by an independent Memorial and Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System.
The task force running the leasing process for city-owned Memorial on Friday released aggregate scores of the five proposals. The scores reflect rankings by the four City Council members on the task force, who evaluated the bids on more than 70 criteria and awarded each between 1 and 4 points.

The Kansas Supreme Court ruled that two members of the Leavenworth Police Department were denied promotions in violation of a state statute.
In State of Kansas ex rel. Williams Slusher and Ralph Sorrell v. City of Leavenworth, Greg Bakian, Lee Doehring and Gary Ortiz, the court reversed and remanded a district court ruling that dismissed the petition of LPD officers William Slusher and Ralph Sorrell.

FORT LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (AP) -- The Army on Thursday rolled out the first revision of its operations manual since the Sept. 11 terror attacks, putting stability operations -- nation building -- on par with combat.
Army officials said the revision reflects a focus on fighting terrorism.

David Millen, general manager of Litho-Krome Co., a Hallmark printing subsidiary in Georgia, has been promoted to general manager of the Hallmark manufacturing center in Topeka. He succeeds Tony Prohaska, who has been appointed general manager of the company's production center in Leavenworth. Millen joined Hallmark in 1984 as a gift wrap section manager in Leavenworth and has held several positions within the company, including production manager in Topeka from 2000 to 2003. He was named Litho-Krome general manager in 2004. Millen will continue to oversee Litho-Krome but will relocate to Kansas.
