GRANDVIEW -- The city of Grandview will hold a dedication ceremony May 12 for its renovated downtown.
At 1 p.m., city officials will make remarks at the corner of Wine Country Road and Division Street to celebrate the city's $5.1 million project, which added benches, widened sidewalks and installed new lighting in the downtown shopping core.

A Kansas City attorney has dropped the appeal of his indigent client challenging the city of Grandview and one of its municipal court judges for incarcerating her without counsel.
Municipal judges and prosecutors closely have been eyeing the case, leery of an outcome that could have had statewide implications. An appellate ruling could have greatly expanded when attorneys must be appointed for people accused of minor crimes.

GRANDVIEW -- With a new grant and plans for more renovated streets, the city of Grandview is on pace to be the first in the Yakima Valley to spend its $20 car-tab fee revenue.
Grandview officials learned this week they received a $200,000 grant to resurface a five-block stretch of Second and Elm streets. The grant from the state Transportation Improvement Board requires a contribution of $10,000 from city coffers.
