BLOOMINGTON - The city of Bloomington and the town of Normal are apparently at odds over how the rotating member of the Bloomington- Normal Transit System Board is chosen.
In the event that it is Bloomington's turn this year to select the rotating member, Bill Wilson of Bloomington will be chosen to replace Mary Caisley of Normal.

BLOOMINGTON - The city of Bloomington will apply for a grant that would help it create a $1 million "gateway" at the city's West Market Street entrance.
Aldermen on Monday voted 6-3 to apply for $800,000 in reimbursement funds through the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program for a project that would improve the west-side approach from Wylie Drive to Martin Luther King Drive.

BLOOMINGTON - The city of Bloomington's voluntary code of conduct is getting new attention following recent incidents of questionable behavior by local elected officials.
New Aldermen Mboka Mwilambwe, Ward 3, and Rob Fazzini, Ward 8, recently signed the code, bringing the total to seven of the 10 council members.

BLOOMINGTON - While the city of Bloomington prepares to negotiate contracts covering most of its 450 unionized employees, one labor relations expert said the slow national economic recovery and efforts in other states to limit collective bargaining will make bargaining harder for unions.
Public- and private-sector unions are on the defensive because of the recent attacks in Wisconsin and Ohio where the states are trying to limit collective bargaining rights," said Victor Devinatz, professor of management at Illinois State University. "This has been building since the 2008 financial crisis.
