Clark/Kjos Architects faced an interesting challenge when it was tasked with renovating a space for Willamette Family Medical Center in Salem. The challenge was in the plug: the center's new building was a former Circuit City building, and that building's distinctive "plug" was hard to cover up.
The architects estimated it would cost $84,000 to revamp the entry system--but that line item was pulled in budget reviews.

As he attempted to answer his attorney's questions about the various corporate documents and e-mails that prove his business partners defrauded him of millions of dollars in Hurricane Katrina- related insurance proceeds, defense counsel objected repeatedly to leading questions. Judge Pierson's phone rang, leading him to take a brief recess.

The Housing and Building Association of Colorado Springs has found a new home for its home show.
Forced to seek a new location because of the closing of the Phil Long Expo Center, the HBA will hold a home show - smaller than its traditional home and garden show - in the former Circuit City at the Barnes Marketplace shopping center, northeast of Powers Boulevard and Barnes Road on the city's northeast side. The event will take place Feb. 11-13.

Attorney Thomas P. Dore on Tuesday conceded that five pending foreclosure proceedings should be dismissed because he could not vouch for his signature on documents filed with the Baltimore City Circuit Court.
Judge W. Michel Pierson must still determine what action to take, if any, with regard to at least 15 other foreclosures involving notarized documents not actually signed by Dore, who represents lenders.

Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana is relocating its Covington retail store to 790 N. Highway 190, the former site of Circuit City. The store will open at 9 a.m. Thursday after the former location at 1000 U.S. 190 Business closes Wednesday night.
