New Haven's Chad Dawson was successful in the biggest fight of his career Friday night, beating veteran Eric Harding by unanimous decision in a 12-round light heavyweight bout of top 10 contenders at Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, Calif. Dawson, rated seventh by the WBC, improved to 22-0 and took Harding's NABF light heavyweight belt with the win in just his second fight in the division after moving up from super middleweight. Harding, who resides in West Hartford and has been a championship contender all decade, dropped to 23-4- 1. Dawson, 23, will rise in the WBC rankings and is closing in on a championship bout.
