MIDVALE -- Christina Pearson's world has shrunk to the rooms of the apartment where she lives with her daughter Tara, 15, a dog, a cat and an African gray parrot named Warrior.
She's dying, too weak now to venture outdoors, tethered by her oxygen tank and failing muscles and heart. The world comes to her in the form of hospice doctors and nurses and aides, her children and granddaughter and Tara's friends.

Together they survived the trials of post-civil war Spain, the separation of Valentin's five-year service in the U.S. Army during World War II and the experience of raising six children. Ami was a gifted artist who never thought her paintings were good enough - t...

WASHINGTON -- Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt and his relatives created a charitable foundation that allowed them to claim millions of dollars in tax deductions yet provided little to charity, according to The Washington Post.
The Internal Revenue Service has called the tax structure used to create the Leavitt foundation a Type III supporting organization, one of its "Dirty Dozen" tax scams. Christina Pearson, an HHS spokeswoman, said the foundation's activities are "totally legal and proper.
