HOPEWELL -- The following students were named to the Honor Roll at West End Christian School for the second nine weeks grading period.

CHARLESTON Christian singer-songwriter Matthew West will bring his concert tour, An Evening of Stories and Songs to Charleston Pentecostal Church, 185 Main Road. at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15.
West, 44, of Nashville, Tenn., will encourage concertgoers to pack empty shoe boxes that will be distributed during the show with small toys, hygiene items and school supplies for needy children around the world through Operation Christmas Child.

It is with great pleasure that we announce that West End Christian School will continue to provide Christian education to students within the Tri-Cities area! An independent group has been given the authority to oversee the future of the school. This group is made up of West End Presbyterian church members, parents/ grandparents of WECS students and Tri-Cities area community members.

Shawn Christian's first experience playing against the "big boys" turned out to be no big deal.
The former Eastern Montgomery quarterback and Timesland male athlete of the year completed 11-of-15 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns, leading the West to a 23-12 win over the East in the VHSCA all-star football game Friday night at Darling Stadium.

The NATO bombing of Yugoslavia has widened the gulf between the Orthodox Christians of Eastern Europe and the Catholics and Protestants of Western Europe and North America. Most Orthodox Christian leaders expressed opposition to NATO's actions. Orthodox Christians view the situation in Kosovo in the context of their long history of conflict with Islam.
